India registered records on and off the field during the clash against Pakistan in the Asia Cup across Sunday and Monday. At the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, India beat Pakistan by a staggering 228-runs for a comprehensive win in the Super 4s. Off the field, the high-profile clash shattered India men’s cricket team’s digital viewership record. As per BCCI secretary Jay Shah, the India vs Pakistan match witnessed 2.8 crore concurrent viewers at one point across the two rain-affected days of match. The previous highest for Indian cricket team was 2.52 crore viewers for the 2019 Cricket World Cup contest versus New Zealand in the semi-finals. He posted on X (previously Twitter): Today’s #INDvsPAK has clocked 2.8 Crore concurrent users on @DisneyPlusHS - the highest for any India match in the history of digital. The previous best was #INDvsNZ 2019 @cricketworldcup semifinal with 2.52 Crore concurrent users 🇮🇳 #AsiaCup @StarSportsIndia".

Even though the match moved to reserve day (Monday) after continuous rain a day prior, the fans were not deterred. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli put on a show with the bat - scoring centuries - before the bowlers swept the Pakistan batters aside. India put together 356 runs while batting first with fifties from Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill before Rahul and Kohli stitched the biggest partnership of the Asia Cup . Chasing 357 runs, Pakistan never got going with Jasprit Bumrah testing the top-order with lethal swing bowling. After the seamers got rid of the top order, Kuldeep Yadav ran through the middle and lower order. Kuldeep picked five wickets with Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Shardul Thakur all taking one each. Pakistan were bundled out for 128 runs and suffered their first loss of the tournament.
