Virat Kohli and KL Rahul took the Pakistan attack to the cleaners on Monday, both batters slamming tons and stitching an unbroken partnership as India posted 356/2 on the board during the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4s clash. The pair had begun cautiously on Sunday after skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill had been dismissed in quick succession. It appeared Pakistan were mounting a comeback after the opening wicket partnership of 121 runs. Rahul and Kohli would begin on a cautious note after the game was moved to the reserve day because of incessant rain on Sunday. Rahul would go on to bring up the three-figure mark — his sixth in ODIs — in his first competitive appearance since May, making a grand return to the international stage ahead of the ODI World Cup. Kohli, meanwhile, would tee off in the slog overs of the Indian innings and eventually go past his batting partner to remain unbeaten on 122 off just 94 deliveries, the late burst helping the Men in Blue go past the 350-mark.
