Mumbai: CricViz, the world’s leading cricket data and analytics provider, has revealed that India’s star opener Smriti Mandhana enters the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 as the most impactful player in the format, based on its Match Impact model. Mandhana tops the global charts with an overall Match Impact score of +861.6 in ODIs since the 2022 Women’s World Cup.

Her remarkable consistency has seen her score 2,100 runs in this period, averaging 58.3 at close to a run-a-ball, with 18 fifty-plus scores in 37 matches. This not only underscores her dominance with the bat but also highlights her pivotal role in India’s ODI success leading into the tournament.

CricViz’s Match Impact model evaluates the ball-by-ball effectiveness of both batters and bowlers, awarding positive values for strong performances and negative values for poor ones. The aggregated match impact score reflects a player’s overall contribution to the game. By this measure, Mandhana is significantly ahead of her peers, with England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt second with +608.3 and South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt third on +508.0.

India have shown strong form in ODIs since the last World Cup, winning 25 of their 38 matches – a win percentage of 66%, the third-best behind Australia (87%) and England (68%). Their attack has been spearheaded by Deepti Sharma, who stands at the top of the wicket-taking charts in this cycle with 60 scalps. Jemimah Rodrigues also features in the top ten of the overall Match Impact rankings with +268.9, further underlining India’s all-round depth.

Against the backdrop of historically tough battles with Australia, England and New Zealand, Smriti Mandhana’s unmatched impact and India’s strong performances with both bat and ball suggest they will be one of the teams to watch at the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.
