The Indian opener scored 45 runs in the summit clash before being dismissed by Chloe Tryon in the 18th over, but not before putting on a solid 104-run stand with Shafali Verma. With that knock, Smriti took her tally to 434 runs in 9 matches, surpassing Mithali Raj’s record of 409 runs set in the 2017 edition, where India had finished runners-up against England.
Mandhana’s World Cup campaign was nothing short of spectacular. She scored one century and two half-centuries, including a stunning 109 against New Zealand and an 88 against England. Her consistency at the top was a big reason behind India’s journey to the final. The elegant left-hander finished the tournament with an impressive average of 54.25 and a strike rate of 99.08.

India got off to a good start against South Africa, reaching 64 for no loss after 10 overs. Mandhana played a solid knock, while Shafali Verma was in attacking mood, smashing 87 runs with seven fours and two sixes. After they were sent back, India lost another wicket, which slowed things down a bit. Now, Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma are trying to steady the innings for India.
The match started two hours late because of a wet outfield caused by heavy rain earlier in the day, but thankfully, no overs were reduced, and the game is still a full 50-over contest.
