Rinku Singh’s father Khanchandra Singh passes away after battling liver cancer; Harbhajan sends condolences

Indian cricketer Rinku Singh suffered a huge personal loss on Friday as his father Khanchandra Singh died after battling with stage 4 liver cancer, the news agencies have reported.

Indian cricketer Rinku Singh’s father, Khanchandra Singh, died on Friday (27 February) after a long battle with liver cancer in Greater Noida, news agency ANI reported.

“After battling fourth-stage cancer, Cricketer Rinku Singh’s father breathed his last at Yatharth Hospital-Omega -1, Greater Noida (Uttar Pradesh) today at 5 am,” Yatharth Hospital PRO was quoted as saying by ANI.

Rinku Singh’s father dies after cancer battle

Rinku Singh’s father was on a ventilator support recently due to his worsening health conditions. According to reports, the cancer cells had spread to other parts of his body. Stage 4 live cancer is the most advanced stage of cancer, during which curing the disease is extremely difficult.

Medication can help reduce the pain and slow the progression of cancerous cells. But unfortunately, despite treatment, Khanchandra was not able to survive the disease.

Rinku was part of the Indian squad in Chennai during the match against Zimbabwe on Thursday in the T20 World Cup 2026. He had left the team before the Zimbabwe match, but rejoined them before the do-or-die clash. Rinku is now expected to take a break from the national duty and join his family during the bereavement.

His participation in India’s final Super 8 match against West Indies, which will be played in Kolkata on Sunday, is also in doubt. The winner of the India vs West Indies match will advance to the semi-finals.

Cricket fraternity sends condolences to Rinku

Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh sent an emotional condolence message to Rinku on X.

Pained to learn about the demise of Shri Khanchand Singh Ji, father of Rinku Singh. This must be an especially difficult time for Rinku and his family, even as he remains committed to his responsibilities during the T20 World Cup.

“Pained to learn about the demise of Shri Khanchand Singh Ji, father of Rinku Singh.
