Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have issued their first official statement following the tragic stampede incident that took place outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during the team’s IPL 2025 victory celebrations on Wednesday. According to reports, 11 people have died including a young boy and at least 33 others have been injured.

In their statement, RCB said, “We are deeply anguished by the unfortunate incidents that have come to light through media reports regarding public gatherings all over Bengaluru in anticipation of the team’s arrival this afternoon. The safety and well-being of everyone is of utmost importance to us. RCB mourns the tragic loss of lives and extend our heartfelt condolences to the affected families.

RCB also clarified that once they were informed about the situation, they “promptly amended the program” and followed the guidance and advice given by the local authorities. They urged supporters to stay safe after what happened during the celebrations.

“Immediately upon being made aware of the situation, we promptly amended our program, and followed, the guidance and advice of the local administration. We urge all our supporters to please stay safe,” the statement read.

RCB had earlier taken part in a felicitation ceremony at the Vidhana Soudha, organised by the Karnataka state government, before moving towards Chinnaswamy Stadium for further celebrations. The stampede occurred as thousands of fans gathered outside the stadium hoping to catch a glimpse of their favourite players.
