The Indian team management should not be “messing” with the senior duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, feels former India coach Ravi Shastri as he fired a bold warning to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Reports have stated that head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar have remained non-committal to Rohit and Virat about their future in ODIs with the duo wanting to play the 2027 Cricket World Cup.
Even as the team management has not given them total clarity over their future, Kohli and Rohit both have been in terrific form in the only format they are playing. Rohit hit a century in Australia and a half-century against South Africa recently. Kohli, on the other hand, followed up on his half-century in Australia with back-to-back tons at home in the ongoing series.

Shastri calls Virat and Rohit ‘dada’
Shastri praised the veteran duo, calling them giants of the white ball game. He was also clear that the team management should not be messing up with them.
“These two are big brothers. White-ball giants, toh aise players ke saath aap masti mat karo yaar (don’t mess with them). Agar unka dimaag theek ho gaya na, and sahi button dabaaye na, sab aaju-baaju nikal jayenge (If their brain gets switched on they press the right buttons, all these will run for cover),” the former India head coach said in a teaser video from his interview released by Prabhat Khabar.
“You can’t buy experience from the market outside. One is a master chaser, the other one has three double centuries in ODI cricket,” he added, telling the valuable nature of the duo in the ODI side.
