Kavisha Dilhari

If Sri Lanka women’s cricket is building its future around young stars, then Kavisha Dilhari is right at the center of it. A batting all-rounder with a calm head and a fearless heart, Kavisha has already made her mark at just 24.
Making her international debut at the age of 17 against Pakistan in 2018, she became one of the youngest players to wear the Sri Lankan jersey. Since then, she has grown into a vital part of the side, not just for her ability to anchor an innings but also for her knack of breaking partnerships with the ball.
By 2024, she had already earned her first big recognition - Best ODI Bowler at the Sri Lanka Cricket Awards. With the bat, she doesn’t try to muscle every delivery out of the park - she times, she nudges, she builds. She is the kind of player who can steady a shaky chase or keep the scoreboard ticking when the big hitters around her are struggling.
With the ball, her off-spin and occasional leg-breaks bring variety, often creating pressure through accuracy rather than sheer turn. Her greatest strength is versatility - she can slip into any role the team needs, whether it’s batting in the middle order, opening an innings, or delivering a quiet but crucial spell with the ball.
After her debut in 2018, Kavisha quickly became a regular in Sri Lanka’s squads for major tournaments, including the 2018 Women’s World T20 in the West Indies. She was part of the silver-medal-winning side at the 2019 South Asian Games, where she served as vice-captain, showcasing her leadership qualities early on.
She represented Sri Lanka in both the 2020 and 2022 ICC T20I World Cups, as well as the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Her all-around contributions in qualifiers and regional tournaments often went under the radar, but they were vital to Sri Lanka’s progress. The recognition finally came in 2024 when her bowling consistency earned her national acclaim.
Still just in her mid-twenties, Kavisha is already seen as one of the key figures for Sri Lanka’s future. She brings reliability to a side often dependent on Chamari Athapaththu’s brilliance, and her ability to combine batting, bowling, and leadership makes her an all-round package.
