The Pakistan Cricket Board has hit back at former national team coach Jason Gillespie for claiming that the cricket board owes him money . Gillespie resigned from his position as Pakistan’s Test team coach in December 2024 after his appointment in April the same year.
The former Australian pacer left the job abruptly due to differences with the board . Gillespie has since gone on to claim that his replacement Aaqib Javed was scheming behind his back .
The 50-year-old’s latest attack on PCB came recently when he claimed that the Pakistan board hasn’t cleared some of his wages.
“Yes, without going into details. I’m still waiting on some remuneration from work that’s being done. So I’ll just navigate through that in due course,” Gillespie told Pakistani website PakPassion.
PCB slams Gillespie over unpaid wages claim
The recent accusation has resulted in a sharp reaction from PCB as they slammed Gillespie for leaving his job without serving the required notice period.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board refutes claims made by a former head coach on the non-payment of his dues,” the PCB said in a statement.
“The PCB spokesman states that the former head coach abruptly left his position without giving a four-month notice period, which was a clear breach of the contractual terms. The coaching contract explicitly mentioned a notice period applicable to both parties, and the coach was fully aware of it," it added.
As per ESPNcricinfo, Gillespie is in contact with PCB over the unpaid wages, including the bonuses for guiding Pakistan to a Test series victory over England in October 2024 and an ODI series win in Australia the following month. Gillespie coached the white-ball side after Gary Kirsten left his job midway through his contract.
