The T20 World Cup 2024 win was celebrated with an incredible open-top bus parade as thousands poured into Marine Drive and Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to celebrate the Indian cricket team becoming the world champions. The enthusiasm shown by the fans underlined why India are the superpower in the world of cricket, but the passionate supporters won’t have the same opportunity this time after the Rohit Sharma-led Team India won the 'Mini World Cup' in Dubai .

India defeated New Zealand by four wickets in the Champions Trophy 2025 final to clinch their second consecutive ICC title in as many years. They are also now the most successful side in Champions Trophy history with three titles as they ended their ICC ODI trophy jinx after a gap of 12 years.

No open bus parade for India’s Champions Trophy win

The beautiful videos of Rohit and Virat Kohli playing 'Dandiya' with stumps after India’s win or Sunil Gavaskar dancing in his own style at the venue to celebrate the victory have gone viral, but it seems that Indian fans won’t have a chance to celebrate the occasion with the team.

While there’s no confirmation, it’s almost certain that no bus parade for a Champions Trophy win will take place due to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season starting on 22 March. The players have very little time to rest before they once again start competitive cricket.

As a result, players left for separate destinations from Dubai . Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir landed at Delhi’s IGI Airport on Monday (10 March), while captain Rohit arrived at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai. Hardik Pandy also landed in Mumbai on Monday and was welcomed with loud cheers.

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, meanwhile, made his straight to Chennai to join his IPL side Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

The IPL 2025 starts on 22 March, with the first match being played between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
