Mohsin Naqvi is reportedly ready to hand over the Asia Cup trophy and winners’ medals to the Indian cricket team players, but he has put forward one condition, which could only lead to a heightened standoff. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president, Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), ran away with the Asia Cup trophy to his hotel after Indian players refused to hand the silverware to him on Sunday.
India won the Asia Cup 2025 by beating Pakistan in the final by five wickets at the Dubai International Stadium. However, they did not wish to take the trophy from Naqvi, who is also Pakistan’s Interior Minister and has been making anti-India comments.
Unhappy with India’s refusal, Naqvi stormed out of the stadium and took the trophy to his hotel. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has now asked him to send the trophy back to the ACC office. The controversy is also set to dominate the ACC Annual General Meeting (AGM), which is set to take place on Tuesday in Dubai.
Naqvi set condition to give Asia Cup trophy to India
Meanwhile, Cricbuzz has reported that Naqvi is ready to hand over the trophy and medals to India, but on one condition: a formal function must be hosted and he should be the one honouring the team with the trophy and medals.
It’s impossible to see BCCI agreeing to such a condition, which means we are set to witness a lot of fireworks, verbal battles and a long wait before India receive the Asia Cup trophy.

More ShortsAlso, it has been revealed that the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and ACC officials floated a plan B to Naqvi on Sunday after the post-match presentation ceremony was delayed by an hour due to India’s refusal.
It was proposed that ECB chairman Khalid Al Zarooni and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam could hand over the trophy and medals to Indian players, but Naqvi did not agree to such an arrangement.
Even if Naqvi hands over the trophy to BCCI in the near future, the cricket board is still expected to lodge a formal complaint against the administrator at an ICC meeting scheduled for November.
