Pacer Dushmantha Chameera received his maiden cap from the Delhi Capitals on Tuesday after replacing senior Indian pacer Mohit Sharma in the playing XI in their away match Lucknow Super Giants. Chameera was the only change of the evening, with LSG captain Rishabh Pant naming an unchanged XI for their second meeting of the ongoing Indian Premier League season against DC. Mohit has been benched after collecting just two wickets in seven appearances this season at an economy of 10.

Revisiting Chameera past record in the IPL
Chameera had previously represented the Super Giants under the KL Rahul’s captaincy in 2022, collecting nine wickets in 12 appearances at an economy of 8.73 that season. He has reunited with Rahul in the DC dressing room this season, having been bought by the franchise for Rs 75 lakh and Rs 14 crore respectively.
The Sri Lankan pacer also part of the title-winning Kolkata Knight Riders squad last season, having coming in as a replacement for England seamer Gus Atkinson at his base price of Rs 50 lakh.
Chameera made a solitary appearance that season going wicketless for 48 runs in three overs in the record-breaking game against Punjab Kings at Eden Gardens in which the visiting team chased down a target of 262 to set a new record.
LSG are aiming to go level with DC this season after the latter pulled off a thrilling one-wicket win in Visakhapatnam in the opening week of the 18th season. The Capitals were facing a huge defeat in their chase of the 210-run target after getting reduced to 65/5, before Ashutosh Sharma’s heroic 66 not out off 31 balls along with Vipraj Nigam’s 39 off 15 balls helped the ‘home’ team chase the target down with three balls to spare.
