JioStar, the official broadcasters of the Indian Premier League (IPL), have extended their support to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after the league was suspended with immediate effect on Friday for a week due to the ongoing India-Pakistan conflict.

JioStar said that they are “committed to prioritise national interest” over other considerations and will now work to ensure the broadcast crew return home safely.

“We, at JioStar, wholeheartedly support the BCCI’s decision to suspend TATA IPL 2025 and stand firmly committed to prioritise national interest over all other considerations,” JioStar said in a statement.

“At this time, we must stand united with our country, support the government and our armed forces, and extend solidarity & support to the civilians affected. We will work with the BCCI to bring back the tournament at an appropriate time. JioStar will work closely with all stakeholders to ensure the transition is managed in a seamless manner and everyone involved in the tournament broadcast returns home safely.”

BCCI to announce new IPL schedule soon

The BCCI has announced that the IPL 2025 could return next week for the remaining 12 league matches and the four playoffs if the situation between India and Pakistan improves from here. The organisers felt playing cricket at such a time was not the right option.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to suspend the remainder of the ongoing TATA IPL 2025 with immediate effect for one week,” the release said. “Further updates regarding the new schedule and venues of the tournament will be announced in due course after a comprehensive assessment of the situation in consultation with relevant authorities and stakeholders.

“At this critical juncture, the BCCI stands firmly with the nation. We express our solidarity with the Government of India, the Armed Forces and the people of our country. The Board salutes the bravery, courage, and selfless service of our armed forces, whose heroic efforts under Operation Sindoor continue to protect and inspire the nation, as they lead a resolute response to the recent terrorist attack and the unwarranted aggression by Pakistan’s armed forces.”

Currently, Gujarat Titans are at the top of the IPL 2025 points table with 116 points from 11 matches, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru are second with the same number of points but an inferior net run rate (NRR). Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals occupy the next three slots respectively. No team has qualified for the IPL 2025 playoffs yet.
