Jasprit Bumrah has slammed Mohammad Kaif over the former India cricketer’s assessment of the pacer’s workload management and how India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav is handling him in the Asia Cup 2025. The 31-year-old Bumrah took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to take a dig at Kaif and his assessment of how, in an effort to manage the fast bowler’s workload, India is not using Bumrah in the right way in the ongoing T20I tournament.
Kaif, who made 3377 runs in 138 international matches, after the match against Bangladesh, pointed out that while Rohit Sharma, as a T20I captain, was using Bumrah in different stages of a match, he bowled three of his four overs in the powerplay against Bangladesh under SKY.
Bumrah calls out Kaif’s analysis on social media
Kaif said that the reason Bumrah bowled three overs consecutively early on was that it helps him avoid injuries, and added that such a strategy is not in India’s favour.
“Bumrah under Rohit would generally bowl overs 1, 13, 17, 19. Under Surya, in Asia Cup, he bowled a three-overs spell at the start. To avoid injury, Bumrah these days, prefers to bowl while his body is warmed up. 1 over of Bumrah in the remaining 14 overs is a huge relief for batters, against stronger teams at World Cup, this could hurt India,” Kaif wrote on X.
Bumrah was quick to criticise Kaif for his “inaccurate” analysis as he blasted the former cricketer on social media while sharing his message.
“Inaccurate before inaccurate again,” Bumrah wrote while reposting Kaif’s post.

Bumrah’s message also highlighted that in the past, as well, he had felt that Kaif had delivered a wrong assessment of him.
Nonetheless, Bumrah, who faced a lot of criticism for ‘choosing and picking ‘ matches in the England Test series, has been picked in the Indian Test squad for the West Indies series, which starts just four days after the Asia Cup 2025 final.
