IPL to pay tribute to Pahalgam terror attack victims during SRH vs MI match; Kohli, Pandya share condolences

The IPL 2025 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) will also not feature any cheerleaders and fireworks. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya have condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) will pay tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attack during the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) vs Mumbai Indians (MI) match on Wednesday (24 April) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

To show their solidarity with the victims, the players of the Mumbai Indians and the Sunrisers Hyderabad will wear black armbands during the match. Also, the SRH vs MI match will not feature any cheerleaders and fireworks.

There are also reports that a one-minute silence will be observed before the match in remembrance of the victims.

As per the latest reports, 26 people have lost their lives in the terror attack on the tourists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on Tuesday.

Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya condemn the attack

Top Indian cricketers Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya have condemned the Pahalgam terror attack on Instagram. They also shared their condolences for the victims.

“Deeply saddened by the heinous attack in Pahalgam on innocent people. Heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. Praying for peace and strength to families of all those who lost their lives and justice to be served for this cruel act,” Virat Kohli wrote on his Instagram story.

“Devastated by the news from Pahalgam. My thoughts are with those affected and their families,” Hardik Pandya wrote on his Instagram story.

The Resistance Front claims responsibility for attack

The Resistance Front has claimed responsibility for the terror attack. The Resistance Front is a proxy of the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

The J&K government has so far announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh for the families of the deceased, Rs 2 lakh for those seriously injured and Rs 1 lakh for those with minor injuries.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has already arrived in Baisaran valley in Pahalgam, where the attack took place.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, returned to New Delhi on Wednesday morning to oversee India’s retaliation.
