IPL Retention LIVE Updates: IPL retention deadline day starts with a big bang announcement as Jadeja joins RR

Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran have left CSK to join the Rajasthan Royals in a player swap deal. Sanju Samson is joining CSK from RR. IPL made the news official at 10 AM IST on Saturday.

IPL Retention LIVE Updates: The full list of retained and released players for all Indian Premier League (IPL) teams would be made official on Saturday (15 November). As we wait for the IPL retention deadline to end , the teams are busy finalising who to retain and release.

Unlike a mega auction, do not expect a flurry of releases from IPL teams ahead of the 2026 mini-auction, except for teams like Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. But some big-money releases could take place from teams like the Kolkata Knight Riders and defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Big releases expected on IPL retention deadline day

KKR are expected to release Venkatesh Iyer , who was bought for a massive Rs 23.75 crore in the last mega auction. Besides Iyer, KKR can also let go of Anrich Nortje and Quinton de Kock.

Similarly, Royal Challengers Bengaluru are expected to release Liam Livingstone, for whom they paid Rs 8.75 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. IPL 2025 finalists, Punjab Kings, could also part ways with Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell (Rs 4.2 crore).

Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, who finished 10th and 9th, respectively, in IPL 2025, are expected to make most releases. As per reports, Devon Conway, Rahul Tripathi, Rachin Ravindra, Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar and Jamie Overton could leave CSK.

RR could also release Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Maheesh Theekshana, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Kwena Maphaka.

CSK and RR have completed a swap deal in which Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran have left Chennai, while Sanju Samson will move the other way.

This brings us to the IPL trades. This is also an option for IPL teams to fine-tune their squads. A few moves have already been made officially. The Mumbai Indians have brought in Shardul Thakur and Sherfane Rutherford from Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans.

Indian star pacer Mohammed Shami has moved to LSG from Sunrisers Hyderabad. Meanwhile, we need to remember that while the option to retain and release players ends on Saturday, trades can continue until 30 days before the next season.
