The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match in Dharamsala on 11 May (Sunday) between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) has been shifted to Mumbai. MI will not be required to travel to Dharamsala for the IPL match as there are fears of a possible retaliation from Pakistan after Operation Sindoor.
India launched attacks on nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on Wednesday, dubbed as Operation Sindoor. As a result, major airports in the northwestern part of India have been shut down for civilian use.
PBKS vs MI shifted Mumbai from Dharamsala
The Kangra airport, which serves the Dharamsala area, is also not allowing civilian flights currently. However, that’s not the only reason the PBKS vs MI match has been shifted from Dharamsala to Mumbai.
The BCCI wants to exercise extra caution with Dharamsala, given its proximity—just 60 km—from the border. The use of floodlights and the gathering of large crowds could potentially be exploited by hostile forces.
Punjab Kings’ match against Delhi Capitals (DC), which is scheduled to take place on Thursday (8 May), could also be rescheduled.
The Operation Sindoor was launched as a response to the terrorist attack in India’s Pahalgam last month, in which 26 people were killed.
