There’s no end to the Asia Cup trophy controversy and no end to how low Pakistani politicians can stoop. While Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman Mohsin Naqvi continues to keep the Asia Cup trophy locked away from the winners, India, a Pakistani politician has likened the Indian players to terrorists.
A viral video of Kamran Tessori, who is the Governor of Sindh in Pakistan, shows the Pakistani politician hailing Naqvi, who is also the Interior Minister in Pakistan, for outfoxing the Team India players and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after facing a boycott during the presentation ceremony of the Asia Cup 2025.
India won the Asia Cup after beating Pakistan by five wickets in the final, but refused to take the trophy from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) head Naqvi as a protest. After an hour-long delay, Naqvi was forced to leave the presentation ceremony, but he took the trophy with him.

He has since refused to hand over the silverware to India, asking them to collect it from him in person. A recent report claims that Naqvi has removed the trophy from the ACC office in Dubai to Abu Dhabi.
Amid the ongoing drama, in the viral video, Tessori said that while the Indian team was hoping for Naqvi to leave the presentation ceremony and collect the trophy from someone else, Pakistan’s Interior Minister treated them like “terrorists” and took the trophy away.
“Jab ye ground me khade the, aur Indian team trophy le nahi rahi thi, inhone bhi sabr ka muzaira kia, khade rahe. Kyunki wo to chahte the ke shayad jab wo hath jayein to kisi aur se le lenge. Lekin unko ye nahi pata tha, ke humara jo chairman hai wo wazeer-e-daakhila bhi hai (“When he was standing on the ground and the Indian team was not collecting the trophy, he showed great patience and stayed there. They probably thought that, once Naqvi left, they could take the trophy from someone else. But, they didn’t realise that our chairman is also the Interior Minister),” Tessori said.

Ab poora India trophy ke peechhe bhaag raha hai (“The chairman treated Team India like terrorists. He took the trophy, kept it in his car and drove away with it. Now, the whole of India is running after the trophy),” Tessori added.
While Pakistan lost three matches to India in the Asia Cup, Pakistani cricket officials and politicians have used the immoral act of running away with the trophy as a means to hit back at the BCCI.
The Indian cricket board, however, is planning to take strict action against Naqvi at the ICC meeting scheduled for early November.
