India vs South Africa LIVE Score 2nd Test Day 3 Updates: Marco Jansen, hero of the day, speaks after brilliant six-wicket haul

“Once we saw there was bounce and pace in the wicket, we tried to utilise it. Good day for the chaps – myself in particular. The spinners did a really good job when the ball wasn’t moving too much. There was a bit of pace and bounce in the wicket, which was nice. We were preparing to field for two days. Today was just about trying to do the job for the team. I still think it’s a good wicket. The ball is starting to turn now. The spinners are definitely going to play a role.”

India vs South Africa LIVE Score 2nd Test Day 3 Updates: Ravi Shastri blasts Gautam Gambhir on air over muddled selection policy

“At what point will India understand that they need specialists for No 3 and 4. Washington batted at No 3 in Kolkata, and is coming in at No 8,” says Mukund on  air after Washington Sundar walks in at No 8 in Guwahati.

“This doesn’t make sense. I don’t understand the thought process. Still trying to fathom out the thought process. You play four spinners in Kolkata and bowl one of the spinners for just one over when you could have gone with another specialist batter. Washington batted at No 3 in the last Test, he could have easily batted at No 4 here. He’s going at No 8,” former head coach Shastri says in response, blasting Gambhir.

India vs South Africa LIVE Score 2nd Test Day 3 Updates: South Africa had burned a review shortly before drinks

This was after Harmer appealed unsuccessfully for leg-before against Kuldeep, who missed while attempting to reverse-sweep the off-spinner. Luckily for him, the ball took a deflection off his glove strap, and the impact also looked like it was outside off.

Meanwhile, Jansen has been given a breather after a destructive spell in which he ran through the Indian middle-order and greatly boosted South Africa’s hopes of not just completing a series victory but completing an emphatic 2-0 sweep! Wiaan Mulder is currently bowling from his end.

India vs South Africa, 2nd Test Day 3 Live Score: Welcome to the coverage of Day 3 in the second Test between India and South Africa in Guwahati. The third day is called the moving day of a Test match and India definitely will have to move fast if they have to pull out a positive result out of this game and draw the series level.

At stumps on the second day, India reached nine without loss after KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal saw off a tricky period of 6.1 overs with light quickly fading away. India will start the third day with a deficit of 480 runs and not only do they have to score big, they also have to score quick enough to get a chance to bowl out South Africa again.

‘Yashasvi Jaiswal to be key’

Yashasvi Jaiswal will be the most important player for India going into the third day, reckons former opener Parthiv Patel. Jaiswal ability to score big and score quick will both have to come together for India to pull off what seems an improbable victory in this Test match. Eyes will also be on Rishabh Pant as he is also a similar kind of a player. But South Africa have the in-form spin duo of Simon Harmer and Keshav Maharaj to trouble India.

Muthusamy, Jansen shine on Day 2

The second day of the Test match belonged to Senuran Muthusamy and Marco Jansen. Muthusamy completed his maiden Test century and scored a composed 109.

Jansen missed out on his century by seven runs but smashed 93 from just 91 balls. His seven sixes in the innings are now the most by a visiting batter in India in Tests.

The duo pushed South Africa to a formidable score of 489 all out.
