India on Sunday created history as they defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets to win the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This is India’s third Champions Trophy title, making them the most successful team in the history of the tournament. The win, which took place in Dubai on March 9, also marks India’s second ICC title in less than a year, following their triumph in the 2024 T20 World Cup. In the last three ICC events, India have won 23 out of 24 matches, with the only exception being the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup against Australia.

The inaugural ICC T20 World Cup in 2007 marked another significant achievement for India, as MS Dhoni’s young team captured the imagination of fans worldwide. India triumphed over Pakistan in a high-pressure final in Johannesburg.

4. ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

After a gap of 28 years, India reclaimed the Cricket World Cup in 2011, under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. The tournament, co-hosted by India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, saw India emerge as the champions on home soil. The final against Sri Lanka at Wankhede Stadium was a memorable affair, with Dhoni playing a captain’s knock, scoring 91 not out, and hitting the winning six.

5. ICC Champions Trophy 2013

India continued its success in ICC tournaments by winning the Champions Trophy in 2013, again under the leadership of MS Dhoni. The tournament was held in England, and India displayed dominant performances throughout, culminating in a convincing victory over England in the final at Edgbaston.

6. ICC T20 World Cup 2024

India’s previous ICC title came in 2024 when the Rohit Sharma-led team clinched the T20 World Cup title. India defeated South Africa in the final by 7 runs to win their second T20 World Cup and their first ICC title since 2013.
