Having landed in England with the intention of ending the series as the leading run-scorer, Shubman Gill has walked the talk and piled up heaps of runs already in the three of the four innings so far. He smashed a century in the first innings at Headingley and then registered a double ton in the first innings of second Test at Edgbaston. The Indian captain did not settle with that and went on to score a century in the second innings too. His brilliance is now in the books as he has cliched a massive feat.

Shubman Gill aggregates most runs in a single Test for India
Gill left stalwarts like Sunil Gavaskar, Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, etc. behind to become the player with the highest aggregate score in a single Test for India. Gavaskar was earlier sitting at the top of the mountain with 344 runs, but Gill has bettered the Little Master’s total at Edgbaston.
After scoring 269 in the first innings, he needed another 77 to break the record. However, Gill went overboard and scored another ton – his third of the series and ninth overall. With that, he steered clear of what was asked. He went unbeaten at 100 at tea, completing a total of 369 runs in the Test.
Gill eventually got out in the final session after scoring 161 off 162 balls, taking his total to 430, which is a record both domestically and internationally.

More records broken by Shubman Gill
Nevertheless, this was not the only head that Gill altered with his ninth Test century. He became only the ninth batter in the world to record a double hundred and a hundred in the same Test. Moreover, he is the third Indian captain after Gavaskar and Virat Kohli to have completed a century in both innings of a Test.
