Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first against India in the second ODI in Adelaide on Thursday, October 23. Mitchell Marsh announced two changes to their squad, with Alex Carey and Xavier Bartlett coming into the playing XI. Marsh forgot to add Adam Zampa’s name, who has also returned after missing out the first game in Perth on Sunday.

“We are gonna bowl first. It was really pleasing (win in the 1st ODI). A lot of positives from last year. One of the better pitchers in the country this year. Everyone loves coming to play here. We always get amazing crowds, and hopefully both teams put on a great show for the big crowd today. Any time you get a chance to win a series in game two, it’s an awesome opportunity. We’ve got a lot of young guys, so I look forward to it. Carey comes in for Philippe. Xavier Bartlett comes in for Ellis,” Marsh said at the toss.

Shubman Gill said he would have elected to bowl first as well. No Kuldeep Yadav again as the Indian team has fielded the same playing XI. Kuldeep was widely expected to return to the starting lineup, especially with conditions in Adelaide likely to assist the spinners. The Indian top order failed in the rain-shortened opening ODI and will look to put on a big total today.

“We would have bowled first as well. Happy to bat first. Never easy when it rains. Hopefully no stoppages today. We are going with the same team,” Gill said.

India will be looking for a strong performance, as Australia lead the three-match series 1-0 after their win in the first ODI. The series is on the line here for Shubman Gill and his team.
