India vs Pakistan, U19 Asia Cup 2025 Final LIVE: 2025 is set to witness last cricketing showdown between arch-rivals India and Pakistan despite their senior men’s team having already played their final fixture before the new year. The U-19 Asia Cup, after all, is set to conclude with a blockbuster showdown between the two South Asian neighbours led by Ayush Mhatre and Farhan Yousaf at Dubai’s ICC Academy.
Both India and Pakistan had won their semi-final encounters by 8 wickets, chasing modest targets against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh respectively. The ‘Boys in Blue’ had restricted the Lankans to 138/8 in a contest that was reduced to 20-overs-a-side, with Vihaan Malhotra (61 not out) and Aaron George’s (58 not out) unbroken 114-run stand for the third wicket helping India recover from a shaky start and chase the target down with a couple of overs to spare.
As for the other semi-final, seamer Abdul Subhan’s 4/20 helped Pakistan bowl Bangladesh out for just 121, with opener Sameer Minhas’ unbeaten 69 helping them chase the target down easily.
India, meanwhile, are the only team yet to lose a game in this tournament; they had thrashed hosts UAE and Malaysia by 234 and 315 runs respectively, posting 400-plus totals against both teams.
And in their toughest outing of the tournament yet, India had been bundled out for 240 by Pakistan with George (85) being the only Indian batter to cross 50. Three-wicket hauls by Deepesh Devendran (3/16) and Kanishk Chouhan (3/33) – the latter also chipping in with a run-a-ball 46 earlier in the game – helped Mhatre and Co bowl Pakistan out for 150 in reply .
India and Pakistan set for seventh showdown since September
Sunday’s final will mark the seventh time the two nations face each other in tournaments organised by the ICC and the ACC since September. The Suryakumar Yadav-led senior men’s side had beaten Pakistan thrice in as many meetings during the Asia Cup in September, including in the final in Dubai on 28 September.
The Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian women’s team would then defeat their arch-rivals in Colombo en route to winning their maiden ODI World Cup.
Pakistan, however, had thrashed India comfortably during the Asia Cup Rising Stars event in Qatar last month, bowling the Jitesh Sharma-led Men in Blue out for just 136 and later chasing the target down with eight wickets and more than six overs to spare in the 20-over contest.
