India outperform Pakistan in Asia Cup overshadowed by war and terror

The tournament had taken place under the shadow of war and terrorism, with the Indian and Pakistani teams facing each other thrice just months after the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam as well as the subsequent four-day military conflict between the two nuclear-armed nations.

India had responded to the deadly terror attack with a series of precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK), codenamed “Operation Sindoor”. And when the Pakistan armed forces retaliated, the Indian military shifted their attention to the country’s air defence and radar systems, and also struck 11 different air bases across the country.

Surya had also dedicated India’s seven-wicket victory over their arch-rivals in the group stage to the victims of the Pahalgam attack as well as the Indian armed forces.
