India defeated Pakistan for the fourth consecutive time in as many Sundays, this time in the ICC Women’s World Cup. After the men’s team completed a hat-trick of victories in the T20 Asia Cup last month, it was the turn of the women's team at Colombo's R Premadasa Stadium on Sunday, with their neighbours ending up on the losing side yet again.
Harleen Deol top-scored for India with a knock of 46 while wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh chipped in with a handy 35 not out off just 20 deliveries as India posted 247 on the board after they were invited to bat by Pakistan. The star of the evening, however, was seamer Kranti Goud, who bowled brilliantly during the powerplay and signed off with figures of 3/20 as the Fatima Sana-led side were bowled out for 159.
Deepti Sharma, meanwhile, chipped in with another all-round performance, collecting 3/45 after scoring 25, playing a supporting role in India’s 88-run victory.

Pakistan, additionally, would have suffered an even bigger defeat had it not been for the in-form Sidra Amin's valiant 81, the senior batter bringing up her 13th ODI fifty and keeping her team in the chase right until she departed.
As had been the case in the men’s matches, India maintained a ’no-handshake’ policy against Pakistan in the ICC Women’s World Cup matches as well, ignoring their opponents at the end of the match with captain Harmanpreet having also refused to shake her Pakistani counterpart Fatima's hand during the toss.
