One of the aspects that has allowed a tiny nation like New Zealand to remain competitive and always do well in ICC tournaments is their fielding. That quality of theirs came to the fore in the Champions Trophy 2025 Group A match against India when former Kane Williamson took a blinder to dismiss Ravindra Jadeja and deepen India’s troubles.

Just when it looked like Hardik Pandya and Jadeja would allow India to finish on a high, stitching a 41-run partnership after Team India kept losing quick wickets, Kane Williamson took a fantastic one-handed diving catch to remove Jadeja.
Williamson’s brilliant catch removes Jadeja
Jadeja got out playing a cut shot on the penultimate ball of the 46th over by Matt Henry. The shot was on the left side of backward point fielder Williamson and was dying on him, but he timed his dive perfectly and took a brilliant one-handed catch to break India’s partnership and force tailender Mohammed Shami to come out to bat.
And now Kane Williamson!

Earlier, Glenn Phillips took another sensational one-handed catch to his right at the same region to dismiss in-form Virat Kohli in the powerplay. Having scored an unbeaten hundred against Pakistan, Kohli was aiming for another solid score, but he was undone by Phillips’ mind-blowing diving catch.
At the time of publishing this story, India were 227/7 from 47 overs.
