India will hope to double their lead in the five-match T20 series vs New Zealand when they face the Black Caps on Friday (23 January) in the second match at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Raipur. Suryakumar Yadav’s India current hold a 1-0 lead after crushing New Zealand by 48 runs in the first match at Nagpur.

While Abhishek Sharma slammed a quickfire 84 and Rinku Singh made a blistering 44 off just 20 balls, Varun Chakravarthy and Shivam Dube took two wickets each as New Zealand were restricted to 190 in the 239-run chase at the VCA Stadium.

India’s dominance in T20 cricket was on full display at Nagpur, and the team would hope to repeat the same in Raipur. Out-of-form skipper SKY also made 32 in 22 balls, and would hope to get a big score in the IND vs NZ 2nd T20.

Raipur weather forecast

Clear skies and abundant sunshine are predicted for Friday (23 January) in Raipur. The match will be played in the evening, with the start time being 7 PM IST, but expect a clear sky during the game. There’s no chance of rain, and the temperature could fall to 24-17 degrees Celsius during the game. Dew could also play a role. The team winning the toss may opt to field first.

Raipur stadium pitch report

The Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Raipur is set to host its second T20I. The pitch is expected to be on a slower side and a score of 160-180 looks more likely. The pacers will have some support at the start, but spinners will have a bigger say.

In the only other T20I at the venue in 2023, Australia were restricted to 154/7 after India made 174/9 in the first innings and won the match by 20 runs.
