India’s women’s cricket team has already created history at the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. By defeating Australia in the semi-final, Harmanpreet Kaur and her team not only booked their place in the final but also confirmed a prize money of nearly Rs 20 crore. The victory came after a record run chase of 339 runs, one of India’s greatest moments in women’s cricket.

But the team’s dream is far from over. India will now face South Africa in the final, and if they win the title, they will get double the amount of Rs 20 crore. The final is scheduled to take place at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, November 2.

Equal pay for men’s and women’s teams

This year’s Women’s World Cup has already made history for another reason. For the first time ever, the ICC has announced equal prize money for men’s and women’s World Cups. The total prize money for the tournament is a record $13.88 million (about Rs 116 crore), almost three times higher than the last edition held in New Zealand in 2022, which had a total of $3.5 million.

This increase is part of the ICC’s pay parity policy, which ensures that both male and female cricketers get the same financial rewards for their achievements. This year’s record prize money has even surpassed the 2023 ICC Men’s World Cup, which had a total pool of $10 million.

Prize money breakdown for the 2025 Women’s World Cup

The winners of the 13th edition of the ICC Women’s World Cup will receive $4.48 million (around Rs 40 crore), which is a 239 percent increase from what Australia got in 2022 ($1.32 million).

The runners-up will receive $2.24 million (Rs 20 crore), up by 273 percent compared to England’s $600,000 in the last edition.

The two losing semi-finalists this year (Australia and England) will each get $1.12 million (Rs 9.3 crore). Teams finishing fifth and sixth will each receive $700,000, while those in seventh and eighth place will get $280,000.

Every team that participated in the group stage is guaranteed $250,000 (around Rs 2 crore), while every group-stage win will earn an additional $34,314 (around Rs 28 lakh).
