England batter Harry Brook has opened up about the heated moments during the thrilling third Test at Lord’s, where England edged India by just 22 runs. Speaking ahead of the must-win fourth Test in Manchester, Brook explained how one fiery over from Jasprit Bumrah sparked England’s decision to return the sledging.
Brook was referring to the final over of Day 3, which was bowled by Bumrah to Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett. During that passage of play, India captain Shubman Gill and his teammates got into a war of words with Crawley and Duckett, who appeared to be wasting time by using various tactics, including calling for the physio.
“Those lads went hard at Creeps (Zak Crawley) and Ducky (Ben Duckett) that night when Bumrah bowled that single over. We watched that and we reassessed. We thought it was the right time to go back at them,” Brook told reporters during the press conference on Monday.

Brook admits fiery moments were enjoyable
The Lord’s Test saw plenty of verbal duels between the two sides, especially during India’s tricky run chase of 193 on a difficult pitch. Brook admitted the aggressive approach from England in the field was deliberate after what happened in their innings a day before.
“I’ve had a lot of compliments. Everyone said it was awesome to watch and it looked like there was 11 versus two out there when we were fielding. It was good fun. It was tiring, but it made fielding a lot more enjoyable,” he said.
