India have given a big hint about their possible bowling attack for the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford, Manchester. A video shared by PTI showed Jasprit Bumrah bowling alongside youngster Anshul Kamboj in the nets under the watchful eye of bowling coach Morne Morkel.
This comes amid a series of injury setbacks that have rocked India’s preparations for the must-win Test, starting July 23. The visitors trail 1-2 in the five-match series after losing at Lord’s and now face a selection headache due to multiple injuries.
The BCCI has already confirmed that all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is ruled out of the remaining two Tests due to a left knee injury. Pacer Arshdeep Singh has also been ruled out of the fourth Test after suffering a thumb injury while bowling in the nets at Beckenham.
Adding to the worries, Akash Deep, India’s hero from the second Test with a 10-wicket haul, is reportedly struggling with a groin niggle and is doubtful for Manchester. Kamboj, who has joined the squad as cover, could make his debut if Akash Deep fails to recover.
Bumrah and Kamboj bowl in nets
The video of him bowling with Bumrah suggests the team management is seriously considering him for selection.

For now, the final playing XI remains undecided and will likely be announced just before the Test. But with Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj expected to lead the attack, Kamboj could be India’s surprise pick for this crucial match. Prasidh Krishna, who was dropped after two Tests on this tour, could also be in the running.
