BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla has reacted to the tragic stampede that took place outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) victory celebrations. RCB won their maiden title on Tuesday night after defeating Punjab Kings by 6 runs in the IPL 2025 final in Ahmedabad.
The entire team flew from Ahmedabad to Bengaluru in a chartered flight to celebrate the win with the fans. RCB team was felicitated by the Karnataka state government at the Vidhana Soudha before they went to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium to celebrate with the fans. Before the team arrived at the stadium, huge crowd gathered outside to welcome their heroes.

However, due to heavy crowd congestion, a stampede broke out, resulting in the death of at least 11 people and leaving several others injured. In a statement to ANI, Rajeev Shukla said that the government had already cancelled the roadshow to avoid any crowd-related incidents, but the stampede near the stadium was not expected. He urged everyone to come together and do the damage control.

The RCB celebration had begun earlier in the day with the team being felicitated by Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and deputy CM DK Shivakumar at Vidhana Soudha. The team later headed to Chinnaswamy Stadium to celebrate with fans. RCB captain Rajat Patidar and legend Virat Kohli spoke to the crowd at the stadium before taking a lap around the ground for fans to see the trophy.
