India’s white-ball tour to Bangladesh, which was postponed last year, will now take place in September 2026, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Friday. BCB’s announcement has come amid attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, which has led to a strong sentiment against the neighbouring nation among Indians.

Indian politicians and Hindu spiritual leaders have also denounced the Indian Premier League (IPL) side Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) signing Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman for the 2026 season, and his participation is now uncertain.

Amid rising tension, BCB said that Team India will travel to Bangladesh for a three-match ODI series and as many T20Is in September 2026. The Indian team will reach Bangladesh on 28 August, with the three ODIs taking place on 1, 3 and 6 September. The three ODIs will be played on 9, 12 and 13 September.

“The series that was postponed earlier between Bangladesh and India has been rescheduled,” BCB cricket operations in-charge Shahriar Nafees told Cricbuzz.

Bangladesh confirm India’s white-ball tour, BCCI yet to respond

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to make any official announcement, but as the series is still nine months away, the cricket board is not expected to make any announcement or take any decision regarding it.

But it’s important to note that India’s tour of Bangladesh in 2025 was postponed due to the worsening relationship between the two nations post the Pahalgam attack by Pakistani terrorists.

The postponement from the BCCI had come after a retired Bangladesh army official said they should occupy seven states of Northeast India to support Pakistan. “If India attacks Pakistan, Bangladesh should occupy the seven states of North-East India. In this regard, I think it is necessary to start a discussion on a joint-military system with China," Maj Gen (retired) ALM Fazlur Rahman said in a Facebook post.

Ever since the Sheikh Hasina government fell in 2024, the anti-India rhetoric has also been on the rise in Bangladesh.

The BCCI’s decision from last year only underlines that the tour of Bangladesh can be postponed once again or called off if attacks on Hindus do not stop.
