Australia announce squad for WTC final: Green, Konstas and Kuhnemann included

Cameron Green will be available for Australia during the World Test Championship (WTC) final against South Africa that starts on 11 June at Lord’s, it was confirmed by Cricket Australia (CA) on Tuesday. Australia have also announced their squad for the WTC final.

Besides Green, who is returning from a back surgery, batter Sam Konstas and spinner Matt Kuhnemann have also been included in the Australian Test squad, which will also tour the Caribbean.

Pat Cummins’ Australia are hoping to become the first team to win multiple WTC titles, while South Africa will be taking part in their first final.

“The team finished the WTC cycle with an impressive series victory in Sri Lanka following an equally strong summer in defeating India for the first time in a decade,” CA selection chair George Bailey said Tuesday.

“Those series capped a consistent performance across the two-year cycle and now presents us with the incredibly exciting opportunity to defend the World Test Championship.

“It means a lot to the group to reach the final and they are very much looking forward to the challenge South Africa will present at Lord’s.”
