Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan avoided his controversial firing gun celebration after scoring a half-century against India in the Asia Cup 2025 final at Dubai on Sunday, September 28. Farhan, who had been criticised for his celebration during the previous game between the two sides, kept things simple this time.
Farhan avoids firing gun celebration
After reaching his fifty, Farhan only gave a cheeky smile and raised his bat towards the dressing room, avoiding the firing gun celebration. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had reportedly filed a complaint against the Pakistani batter for his celebration after the last match. Farhan reportedly received a warning from the International Cricket Council (ICC) and was let go.
His innings proved to be a big blow for India at the start as the right-hander smashed 57 runs in just 38 balls with five fours and three sixes, taking on the Indian pacers and spinners alike. However, India finally made a comeback in the middle overs through their spinners as Pakistan batters fell like a pack of cards.
Pakistan lost nine wickets in the span of just 33 runs as Kuldeep Yadav picked up three wickets in his final over. Jasprit Bumrah came and removed the last two batters and India bowled out the Pakistani side for 146 runs in 19.1 overs. India will now need 147 runs to win the match and lift their 9th Asia Cup title.
