Aiden Markram pulled off an incredible diving catch at the second slip to dismiss Nitish Kumar Reddy on Monday and push India into deep trouble in the second Test at Guwahati. Nitish Reddy was the sixth wicket that India lost on Day 3 morning on a batting-friendly pitch.

After suffering a collapse towards the end of the first session on Day 3 of the second Test and losing captain Rishabh Pant early on in the second session, India were hoping to pull things back with Ravindra Jadeja and Nitish Kumar Reddy.
But those hopes were dashed soon as pacer Marco Jansen produced a snorter – terrific short delivery that rose sharply with extra bounce, outfoxing Nitish Kumar Reddy, who tried very hard, but was unable to keep it down.

The red cherry stuck the shoulder of the bat and ballooned off to the wide of second slip. It wasn’t close to Markram by any imagination, but the slip fielder did very well to run a few steps to his right before putting in an incredible dive to complete a one-handed catch.
For a moment, it seemed like it wasn’t Markram but maybe Superman. It was such a superhuman effort and the disbelief among the fielders was pretty evident by the reaction as they mobbed Markram in celebration.

The procession, meanwhile, continued as Jadeja was dismissed soon after. He was also dismissed by Jansen as a short ball hit his shoulder, then his bat, before Markram took the catch at the second slip.
At the time of publishing this report, India were 136/7, trailing South Africa by 353 runs.
