Samson to get another chance?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also shared an update on social media stating that the opener was still recovering.

“Abhishek Sharma is still recovering from his illness and was unavailable for selection. The BCCI medical team is closely monitoring his progress,” BCCI posted an update ahead of the start of India’s clash against Namibia.

According to a Times of India report, Abhishek ate something that caused him problems. He played the match against the United States despite being unfit and was dismissed for a Golden Duck.

However, after that he was hospitalised and joined the Indian team in Delhi for the Namibia match a little late.

In Abhishek’s absence, Sanju Samson got the chance to open the innings. The wicket-keeper batter did start the game on a high but was soon dismissed. Samson struck 22 off just 8 deliveries with 3 sixes and a four before holing out to deep mid-wicket on the bowling of Ben Shikongo.

Meanwhile, India also made another change to their Playing XI as Jasprit Bumrah came back to the side after missing their tournament opener. He replaced Mohammed Siraj in the side who took three wickets against USA.
