In a shocking incident from Mumbai’s Andheri West, Rahil Javed Shaikh, son of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Javed Shaikh, allegedly rammed his car into that of an influencer, Rajshree More, while driving in an inebriated state.

The incident, which took place on Sunday night, quickly went viral after videos surfaced showing Rahil shirtless, visibly drunk, and aggressively arguing with the woman involved. He was also heard name-dropping his father’s political position, and daring More to report him.

The video has since gone viral, drawing widespread criticism and once again sparking concerns around political entitlement and misuse of power by those linked to influential circles.

Here’s what we know happened

‘First, I thought it was a mistake, he slammed my car repeatedly’

Late Sunday night, social media influencer Rajshree More, who is also known to be close to actress Rakhi Sawant, was on her way back home from Goregaon when her car was allegedly hit by an SUV in Mumbai’s Andheri West.

Behind the wheel was Rahil Javed Shaikh, son of MNS Maharashtra Vice President Javed Shaikh. More captured what happened next on her phone.

In the video that has since gone viral, Rahil is seen partially undressed, clearly agitated, and using abusive language. More told ANI that Rahil was so intoxicated he seemed unaware he wasn’t fully clothed — but was still quick to mention his father’s political clout.

“He told me, ‘Tujhe pata hai main kaun hoon? Mera baap kaun hai? Main MNS se hoon’ (Do you know who my father and I are? I am from MNS),” More recalled. “He didn’t even bother to give his name. The police were very supportive, but he kept abusing me and saying disgusting things. He was extremely arrogant.”

She said the SUV hit her car multiple times.

“The first time, I thought it was a mistake,” she told NDTV, “but then it happened again. I don’t know if I was being followed…I asked my driver if the car was locked and saw two constables nearby. I asked for help and they sat inside the car — and it was rammed again.”

She claimed the police tried to stop Rahil, but he refused to cooperate. Even when asked for his keys, he allegedly didn’t comply. At the police station, things got worse.

More alleged that Rahil insulted police personnel too, putting his legs up on the table and claiming that his father would “buy” them all.

Was Rajshree More ’targeted’ by MNS?

Earlier this week, More landed in controversy for a video she posted on Instagram, in which she made remarks about Maharashtrians and their work ethic. The video had drawn criticism online, prompting MNS to file a complaint against her.

In the video, More was purportedly seen saying that Maharashtrians don’t work as hard, and if people from other states left Mumbai, locals would struggle. She later deleted the video and issued an apology.

Speaking to ANI, More claimed she was being targeted for voicing support for migrant workers.

“I was targeted because, despite being a Maharashtrian, I spoke up for people who come from other states to work here. I had urged them not to torture them and let them continue their work. They called me ‘Vibhishan’. I respect everyone. Mumbai brings everyone together. Maharashtra belongs to everyone and that is why I raised my voice. Action should be taken. They had come with 200 people and demanding an apology from me… I was told my studio would be vandalised if I didn’t apologise. I am scared. Where am I safe?” she told ANI.

Who is Rahil Javed Shaikh?

In one of the viral videos, More is seen holding up an ID card, allegedly belonging to Javed Shaikh, Deputy President of MNS in Maharashtra.

Police sources told News18 that Rahil, who holds an MBA degree, had gone to meet a friend in Lokhandwala who had recently returned from London. The two reportedly drank together.

Later that night, Rahil received a call from his mother asking him to come home. While driving back, allegedly under the influence, he hit More’s car in Andheri.

Rahil is said to have apologised later, claiming he didn’t realise the gravity of what had happened at the time. He was summoned to Amboli Police Station on Monday and questioned for nearly six hours.

An FIR has been filed, and further legal action will be based on the outcome of the investigation. According to ANI, the Mumbai Police have detained Rahil for a medical examination, and his car has also been taken in for forensic checks.

Political backlash

The incident has triggered widespread backlash. Sanjay Nirupam, leader from the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), slammed Rahil for his behaviour and called out his father’s party.

“MNS leader Javed Shaikh’s son misbehaved with a woman. He was drunk and rammed his car into hers. What kind of Muslim is he if he drinks alcohol?” Nirupam said in a video message.

He also accused MNS of using Marathi pride as a political cover. “If they really cared about Marathi culture, they wouldn’t behave this way with Rajshree More.”

This isn’t the first time the MNS has been in the spotlight for the wrong reasons.

Just last week, a North Indian restaurant owner in Mira Road was allegedly assaulted by MNS workers for not speaking in Marathi. A video of that assault also went viral, showing three men getting into a heated argument with the owner before slapping him multiple times.
