Singapore PM to meet Malaysian leader Anwar Ibrahim

Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong is on a two-day visit to Malaysia’s administrative capital Putrajaya to attend the 11th Malaysia-Singapore Leaders’ Retreat.

He will attend an official welcome ceremony, which will be followed by a meeting between him and Malaysian Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anwar Ibrahim and their delegations.

Blinken in France

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is set to visit France today.

He will meet French officials as part of their vital partnership to address challenges in Europe, West Asia, and beyond.

His trip to France comes after he visited South Korea on January 4 amid the ongoing political turmoil in the country.

Hearing for El Chapo’s sons

Joaquín Guzmán López and Ovidio Guzman, the sons of notorious drug kingpin “El Chapo,” are likely to appear in court today.

They are accused of taking reins of the Sinaloa cartel after their father’s arrest.

10th anniversary of Charlie Hebdo attack

French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo on Tuesday will mark 10 years since an attack on its offices by Islamist gunmen that decimated its staff.

The 2015 attack by two Paris-born brothers of Algerian descent was said to be revenge for Charlie Hebdo’s decision to publish caricatures lampooning the Prophet Mohammed, Islam’s most revered figure.

Delhi HC to hear Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam bail pleas

The Delhi High Court will hear bail pleas filed by activists Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam and other accused in connection with the UAPA case alleging a larger conspiracy related to the 2020 North-East Delhi riots.

The violence took place during the protests against the CAA and NRC. They have sought bail from the court on the grounds of long period of incarceration and parity with other co-accused who are on bail.

KT Rama Rao likely to appear before ED

The Enforcement Directorate has issued summons to BRS working president and former minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) in connection with the alleged financial irregularities of Rs 55 crore in hosting the Formula-E race in February 2023.

KTR is the working president of BRS and son of BRS chief and former Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao.

Pakistan’s SC to hear the military courts case

Pakistan’s Supreme Court’s constitutional bench will be hearing the military courts case today.

A seven-member bench, led by Justice Aminuddin, will continue hearing appeals against the annulment of civilian trials conducted by military courts.
