PM Modi to launch multiple projects in Delhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch multiple projects in the national capital . This will begin with a visit to an apartment complex built for slum dwellers in north-west Delhi’s Ashok Vihar, reported Hindustan Times.
The inauguration of the projects precedes the Prime Minister’s first election rally in Delhi, now anticipated on Sunday. Originally planned for the final Sunday of December, the rally was postponed due to the passing of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
He is set to inaugurate 1,675 newly built flats for residents of JJ clusters under the Swabhiman Apartments project in Ashok Vihar, providing an improved living environment with essential amenities.
Republicans to take over US Congress
President-elect Donald Trump along with all elected Republicans will be sworn in today at the United States Congress marking the commencement of their legislative duties.
Meanwhile, voting to elect the new Speaker of the House will also take place with Incumbent Speaker Mike Johnson seeking re-election, reported news agency Reuters. He is being backed by President-elect Donald Trump.

Notably, Johnson’s leadership is pivotal in advancing the Republican agenda in the House. Earlier, the move by 34 Republicans to vote against Johnson’s stopgap funding bill in December raised questions over whether Johnson might struggle to garner enough support for re-election, reported Reuters.
First Cabinet meeting of the French government
The first Cabinet meeting of Prime Minister François Bayrou’s government is scheduled to take place today. One of the main issues ahead of the newly-formed government remains to be forming a 2025 budget.
73-year-old Bayrou, leader of the centrist MoDem group allied with Macron’s party, was appointed on December 13 to succeed former Prime Minister Michel Barnier, whose government fell amid disputes over budget reforms.

The Archeological Survey of India (ASI) is set to submit its report to the Supreme Court today in response to the claim about Harihar Temple being situated inside Shahi Jama Masjid in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal.
On November 19, earlier this month, eight individuals, represented by Supreme Court lawyer Vishnu Shankar Jain, filed a claim in the Senior Division Civil Judge’s court, alleging the existence of the Harihar Temple within the Jama Masjid of Sambhal. In response to the claim, Advocate Ramesh Singh Raghav was appointed as the Advocate Commissioner on the same day and tasked with conducting a survey.
