They are likely to hold bilateral talks on peace, security and development, reaffirming India’s unwavering support for Cyprus’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. PM Modi will conclude his Cyprus visit today and head to Canada.
In Canada, he will attend the ongoing G7 summit. Earlier, PM Modi received a call from his Canadian counterpart Mark Carney, who invited him to participate in the G7 Summit. According to an official statement by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), this would be the Prime Minister’s sixth consecutive participation in the G7 Summit.
Xi Jinping to attend China-Central Asia summit
Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the second China-Central Asia Summit in Astana beginning today. He will be attending the summit at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. This marks the first time the China-Central Asia Summit will be held in a Central Asian country.
During the upcoming summit, President Xi is expected to deliver a keynote speech and engage in discussions with Central Asian leaders on various topics, including consolidating strategic trust, enhancing practical cooperation across diverse fields, and addressing international and regional issues.

Hearing on foreign student dispute between Harvard University and Trump
A hearing in the dispute between Harvard University and the administration of President Donald Trump concerning foreign students is indeed scheduled for June 16. This hearing, presided over by US District Judge Allison Burroughs in Massachusetts, will address whether to extend a temporary block on a recent presidential proclamation.
The dispute is part of an escalating campaign by the Trump administration against Harvard , which it accuses of failing to comply with various government demands, including providing extensive records on international student conduct and adhering to certain ideological positions. The administration’s actions have included attempts to revoke Harvard’s certification to host foreign students through the Student Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) and a recent proclamation banning international students from entering the US specifically to attend Harvard.
IAEA Board of Governors to convene meeting in Vienna

Vijay Rupani’s last rites to be held today
The last rites of former Chief Minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani will be held today in Rajkot today. Rupani’s body was identified on Sunday (June 15) through DNA testing. He was among the 241 passengers killed in the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad.
Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel said that the family members of the former chief minister have been informed about the DNA matching.
“CM Bhupendra Patel went to the residence of former CM Vijay Rupani and informed his family that his DNA matching has been done. CM has also informed the family that the state government will support them in the further proceedings of the last rites in Rajkot. The family members will decide when they will take over his mortal remains," he told reporters.
