Appeal in the Gisele Pelicot rape case

The appeal in the high-profile French criminal case involving Gisele Pelicot and her ex-husband, Dominique Pelicot, will take place today. The original trial, which concluded with a devastating verdict for the defendant, riveted France due to the shocking scale and duration of the crimes.

Dominique Pelicot was convicted of crimes that spanned nearly a decade, during which he was found guilty of drugging and raping his wife and more than 30 other women, meticulously recording hundreds of hours of video documentation without the victims’ knowledge or consent. Gisele Pelicot, who discovered the recordings after her husband’s phone broke, became the catalyst for the entire investigation and a powerful symbol for victims of hidden domestic sexual violence.

First full ‘Harvest Supermoon’ rise

Observers will be treated to the spectacular sight of the first full “Harvest Supermoon” rise in the Northern Hemisphere. It’s called the harvest moon because it’s the closest full moon to the equinox on September 22, and its light traditionally helps farmers work all night to gather crops.

The harvest moon will turn full at 11:49 pm EST on Monday, October 6, 2025. It will look full the night before and the night after, but the best time to watch it rise in North America will be at moonrise during dusk on Tuesday, October 7, when it will appear on the eastern horizon shortly after sunset.
