Hemant Soren to take oath as Jharkhand CM
Jharkhand Chief Minister designate Hemant Soren is set to take oath as the next chief minister of the state today. This will mark his second consecutive term as the chief minister.
Just a day earlier, Soren, along with his wife Kalpana, visited his ancestral Nemra village in Ramgarh district to pay tribute to his grandfather Sobaran Soren on his 67th death anniversary, observed as ‘Sahid Diwas’, reported news agency PTI.
On Saturday (November 23), Hemant Soren's JMM-led alliance secured a decisive victory in Jharkhand claiming 56 out of 81 assembly seats while the NDA garnered only 24 seats despite an aggressive campaign.
NDA meet to discuss Maharashtra CM
Leaders from the BJP, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led NCP (Mahayuti) will meet Home Minister Amit Shah today in Delhi to discuss who shall lead the state.
The meeting comes as suspense mounts over the top post in the Mahayuti government following the recently declared results of the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections.
The BJP won over 131 seats, while the Shiv Sena and NCP secured 57 and 41 seats, respectively.
Yesterday, Eknath Shinde had spoken with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the chief minister’s position and assured them that he would accept any decision made, stressing there would be no resentment regarding the selection.
Nepal’s foreign minister to visit China
Nepal’s Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba will travel to China to finalise the agenda and itinerary of Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli’s official visit to the northern neighbour, reported PTI.
On Monday (November 25), the council of ministers endorsed Deuba’s visit and finalised the members that would be part of her entourage.
The Cabinet has endorsed her visit to China where she would lead a high-level delegation from November 28 to 30 to make necessary preparations for the scheduled visit of PM Oli to China, Minister for Information and Communication Prithvi Subba Gurung said.
Delhi court to hear Kejriwal’s plea in ED case
A Delhi court is set to hear a plea today filed by former Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal, who has claimed that he has not received a copy of the sanction order in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) case against him.
Special Judge Kaveri Baweja granted the ED additional time to file its reply and fixed the matter for a detailed hearing on the scheduled date. In his plea, Kejriwal pointed out that during a recent hearing in the Delhi High Court, the Solicitor General representing the ED stated that the required sanction had been obtained when the charge sheet was filed, reported news agency ANI.
President Murmu to visit Tamil Nadu
President Droupadi Murmu will be on a four-day visit to Tamil Nadu. She will address the faculty and student officers of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington today.
She will also interact with the members of the tribal women’s Self-Help Groups and prominent members of the tribal community at the Raj Bhavan. On Saturday (November 30), she will attend the convocation ceremony of the Central University of Tamil Nadu at Thiruvarur.
