Chhath Puja will be observed across India
Monday marks the third and most important day of the Chhath Puja. On this day, devotees observe a 36-hour waterless fast that begins after the Kharna ritual on the previous day.
In the evening, they gather at the banks of rivers, ponds, or other water bodies, and while standing waist-deep in the water, they offer prayers and “arghya” (offerings of water and milk) to the setting sun.
This ritual symbolises gratitude to the Sun God for sustaining life and seeking blessings for the family’s prosperity and well-being. The four-day Chhath Puja began on Saturday (October 25) with Nahay Khay.
