Bangladesh election results
Official results for Bangladesh’s 13th National Parliamentary Elections are expected to be announced by the Election Commission on the morning of Friday. Voting took place across 299 constituencies from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm local time on Thursday (February 12).
The main contest is between the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and a coalition led by Jamaat-e-Islami, which includes the National Citizens Party. Meanwhile, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League was barred from contesting in the election.
This was the first national vote that occurred in the country since the student-led uprising in 2024 that eventually led Sheikh Hasina to flee from the country.
Munich Security Conference
The 62nd Munich Security Conference (MSC 2026) will officially begin on Friday at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich, Germany. The first day of the conference will focus on the future of multilateralism, the global AI race, and regional security.
High-level discussions on economic security, climate action, and nuclear security. Meanwhile, the group will publish selected key takeaways and exclusive survey data from Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank.
Over 1,000 participants from 115 countries will attend the summit. Some o of the key figures include German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and a large US delegation led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Launch of Crew-12 mission to the ISS
The launch of the Nasa SpaceX Crew-12 mission to the International Space Station (ISS) is expected to take place today. The launch will occur from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida at 5:15 am EST (3:45 pm IST).
Earlier, the mission was moved to February 13 from its original dates (February 11 and 12) due to unfavorable weather conditions, specifically high winds along the Atlantic ascent corridor. The crew includes commander Jessica Meir, Pilot Jack Hathaway, and Mission Specialists Sophie Adenot and Andrey Fedyaev.
If liftoff occurs as planned, the Dragon spacecraft is expected to dock at the ISS at approximately 3:15 pm EST on Saturday (February 14). The crew will conduct over 200 scientific experiments, including studies on blood flow in microgravity to prevent strokes and testing nitrogen-fixing microbes for space-based food production.
Italian PM Meloni will visit Ethiopia for the Italy-Africa Summit
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will be in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to host the second Italy-Africa Summit. The event is the first Italy-Africa summit held on African soil and coincides with the annual African Union (AU) Summit.
Meloni is leading a “political and operational check-up” of the Mattei Plan for Africa, a strategic partnership launched in 2024 to foster cooperation in energy, infrastructure, and agriculture.
Italy aims to position itself as a “bridge” between Europe and Africa, exchanging infrastructure investment for tighter African control over migration flows.
PM Modi to inaugurate new office Seva Teerth and Kartavya Bhavan
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Seva Teerth and Kartavya Bhavan-1 & 2 today. This will mark the first time the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) will change its address since Independence.
At around 1:30 pm, PM Modi will unveil the name of the new complex, Seva Teerth. Meanwhile, the formal inauguration of both Seva Teerth and Kartavya Bhavan-1 and 2, followed by a public address at the venue.
Following the move the government departments will no longer operate from the British-era North and South Blocks, which have served as the seat of power since 1921.
