PM Modi to travel to Argentina
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is indeed scheduled to travel to Argentina today as part of a significant five-nation tour aimed at strengthening India’s engagement with the Global South. This visit to Buenos Aires marks a historic occasion, being the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Argentina in 57 years.
The trip will mark the third leg of his extensive tour that commenced on July 2. During his time in Argentina, PM Modi is slated to hold wide-ranging discussions with President Javier Milei. The agenda for these talks is expected to focus on enhancing the multifaceted strategic partnership between the two nations.
The first and second legs of his tour consisted of travelling to Ghana and Trinidad and Tobago. Following his engagements in Argentina, PM Modi will proceed to Brazil for the Brics Summit and a bilateral state visit, concluding his tour in Namibia on July 9.
Free America protests against Trump
‘Free America’ marches will be held across the United States by the advocacy group Women’s March today. The marches are being held against President Donald Trump’s administrative policies on the occasion of US Independence Day. Various activities, including rallies, marches, street parades, and art projects, are encouraged for participants to express dissent against the government.
According to The Times of India, the Women’s March stated, “They want us scared, divided, and isolated. They want to prevent us from envisioning true freedom. Yet, that’s precisely what we must do”. They added, “This Fourth of July, we will gather in the streets celebrating freedom and joy. The dream of American liberty is for everyone and we will relentlessly pursue its promise.”
Trump to deliver remarks in Iowa
US President Donald Trump is scheduled to deliver remarks at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, Iowa, today. This event, termed “A New Era of American Greatness: America250’s Kick-Off Celebration,” marks the beginning of a year-long commemoration leading up to America’s 250th anniversary of independence in 2026.
According to reports, the event will feature patriotic displays, musical performances and a fireworks show. Some of the other speakers expected to attend include US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, US Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins and country singer Lee Greenwood.
This visit marks Trump’s first return to Iowa since winning its 2024 caucuses, reinforcing his bond with the state’s voters. He is leveraging the event to reaffirm his domestic agenda, including trade initiatives, support for farmers and the pressing tax‑and‑spending bill under House consideration.
Shubhanshu Shukla to address Indian students and scientists
Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla is set to engage with Indian school students and scientists from the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) today. According to the Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (Ariss), the event will be conducted by ham radio.
As part of the 14-day Axiom-4 (Ax-4) mission on the International Space Station (ISS), astronaut Shukla will participate in an educational interactive session. Through Ariss, a worldwide initiative that links students with space via amateur radio, the discussion is scheduled for 10:17 UTC (3:47 PM IST) and will be transmitted via the K6DUE telebridge in the US.
Confirming the event, the official Ariss X handle posted, “Contact upcoming with India! @Axiom_Space #Ax4 crew member Shubhanshu Shukla, VU2TNI, will talk to the UR Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) in Karnataka via ham radio from the Space Station. Day 3 of the India-England test match
India is set to face England in the third test match of the India-England series today at Edgbaston, Birmingham. This will be a crucial day for both teams.
