The plane crash in Ahmedabad today has claimed 241 victims, including former Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani. Among others who died were a Manipuri airhostess, a Kerala nurse, and a Canadian dentist. Let’s take a closer look at some of their stories

The plane crash in Ahmedabad today has claimed 241 victims.

The plane, which went down immediately after take-off, crashed into a hostel.

Former Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani was confirmed to be among the dead.

But what do we know about the victims and their stories?

Ranjitha Gopakumaran

Ranjitha, who lived in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta, was working as a nurse in the UK.

The 42-year-old from Pullad village had previously worked as a nurse in Oman.

Ranjitha had returned to Kerala to oversee the construction of a new home.

Ranjitha, who dreamed of one day working in Kerala’s health service, had taken a train to Kochi and then flown to Ahmedabad.

She is survived by her husband Vineesh, two young children Rithika and Induchoodan and her mother Thulasi.

Nganthoi Sharma Kongbrailatpam

Nganthoi was part of the 10 crew that died on the Air India flight.

The 22-year-old, the middle of three children, hailed from Thoubal distrcit’s Awang Leikai in Manipur.

Nganthoi informed her family that she would be flying to London today.

“It was her dream to become airhostess,” her elder sister said.

Her family is in shock over the tragic incident.

Khushboo Rajpurohit

Khushboo, a resident of Araba village in Rajasthan’s Balotara, was a newly-married woman.

She was on her way to London to meet her husband – who is a studying there.

This was going to be the first meeting since they tied the knot.

Jamie Meek

Meek, a yoga enthusiast, was on his way home to London after a trip to India.

He took to Instagram to post about the “mind-blowing memories” and magical experiences he shared with his partner Fiongal Greenlaw-Meek on their trip.

His last post, which came just minutes before he boarded the plane, read, “Goodbye India.”

Shubh and Shagun Modi

Shubh and Shagun Modi, the son and daughter of Udaipur marble businessman Pinku Modi, were also on the flight.

The 24-year-old and 22-year-old were heading to London to stay with a friend.

They both had completed their MBAs and were helping their father in his business.

Nirali Sureshkumar Patel

Nirali, a dentist from Ontario’s Mississauga, was the sole Canadian on board the plane.

Nirali is survived by her husband and their one-year-old child.

He said he and their child are currently trying to get to India.
