Siddhant Chaturvedi and Raghav Juyal ’s Yudhra is a full-on action- thriller where you shouldn’t look for substance.

Yudhra Movie Review: Siddhant Chaturvedi shines in a full-on action film

Language: Hindi

Director: Ravi Udyawar

Cast: Siddhant Chaturvedi, Raghav Juyal, Malavika Mohanan, Ram Kapoor, Gajraj Rao

The biggest mistake you make when you go to the theatre to watch an action film is that you start looking for substance. We need to understand that action films are going to be violent because that is the primary focus. Again this revenge sage is not for the weak hearts.

Siddhant Chaturvedi’s  _Yudhra_  is full of action and unlike  _Kill_ , it is not shot in just one place that the movie is concentrating on. At some point, the audiences were tired of seeing the killing of Kill. Here you won’t because it moves to several fancy destinations. This is not a movie that you should even expect to look for hard-hitting content or a social message. It is an out-and-out high-octane action film. The biggest positive of this film is that it is gripping and it will not put you to sleep for sure. But it has a lot of flaws.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

I won’t say that Siddhant Chaturvedi’s performance was brilliant, but it could have been weaved better by bringing different layers to his character. He is shown to be a man with an anger issue, but that back story is not at all highlighted in the film. In the first half before the interval, the film is better because you believe that the story is building up. But sadly, the second half fails to keep the audience engaged and glued to the screen.

A still from Yudhra

Not running down the efforts of the actors because I believe that there was a lot of effort that went behind Siddhant’s action performances. We have seen Raghav Juyal in Kill, but I somehow felt that this brilliant craftsman  and the new star-antagonist was underutilised in Yudhra. Again, concentrating just on action, the father-son relationship was overlooked. Yudhra is undoubtedly predictable from the very beginning, but with the zipping and zooming of bikes, beautiful destinations and the flowing of human blood, there is never a dull moment.

But despite its average storytelling, we cannot deny that Yudhra is one of the biggest action spectacles of the year. The intense bike chase sequences filmed across the iconic streets of Mumbai will surely give you an adrenaline rush. When it comes to value for money, I would say it is a good one-time watch in the theatres only. Don’t wait for it to be shown on OTT, because it is a big screen watch.

Rating: 3 out of 5
