Won't make defamatory remarks against Pancholis: Jiah Khan's mom to court

Rabiya Khan, the mother of deceased Bollywood actor Jiah Khan, today assured the Bombay High Court that she would not make any defamatory statements about Sooraj Pancholi and his parents Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab. She also claimed that her Twitter account had been hacked in the past.

The statement was made by Khan’s lawyer during the hearing of defamation suit filed by Pancholis against her before the Bombay High Court. Sooraj, a former boyfriend of Jiah, is facing a case of abetment of her suicide.

She also claimed that her Twitter account had been hacked in the past.“I have a twitter account which I have been using for many years. It has also been hacked a few times. I don’t have to do anything with a few comments in the past. But I will not tweet anything in future,” said her lawyer Subhash Jha, speaking on her behalf.

Justice Suresh Gupte made it clear that the statement would not bar her from speaking to the investigation agencies, such as police or CBI (with regard to the probe of her daughter’s suicide). Pancholis have demanded Rs 100 crore in damages from Rabiya for ‘posting slanderous, defamatory and abusive’ comments on the Twitter.

Their lawyer on Wednesday told the court that even after the suit was filed, Rabiya kept posting slanderous comments. Rabiya’s lawyer also sought some time to file her reply to the defamation suit, as she was planning to go abroad.
