12th Fail film clarifies many doubts for all UPSC aspirants. The film says that aspirants have only four chances to clear the exam for general candidates. The movie also teaches the ‘RESTART’ formula and how not to give up. The RESTART formula mentioned in _12th Fail_ film is like the game of snake and ladder. There are three stages of clearing the exam, first is the prelims, then mains and the interview round. But if you have cleared the first round of exams which is prelims and it’s a multiple choice paper and the mains which is a subjective paper and you are unable to clear the latter, then again you have to wait for six months and clear the prelims. So, it’s a vicious cycle. There are many who clear both and are unable to clear the interview. For them too they have to go back clear prelims, then mains and then appear for the interview all over again. In one of the scenes of Vikrant Massey’s _12th Fail_, it is mentioned that a student has to study for 18 hours every day to clear the civil services exams. The trickiest bit is the interview because it is more of a psychological test and you really don’t know what is playing at the back of the minds of the interviewers. You are completely at their mercy. But you need to be well turned out and well prepared with some basic questions like as to what change you are going to bring about in the system, a little bit about your background, why you want to become an IPS, IFS or IAS officer. And last and not least you should be prepared for failures. There are very few candidates who clear this exam in their first attempt. Remember failure shouldn’t define you, but it can help shape you!
Vikrant Massey and Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail truly is an encouraging film for all civil service aspirants. Here is why
