When Shahid Kapoor refused to do 'Kabir Singh' and wife Mira Rajput intervened

Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani’s Kabir Singh was the second biggest hit of 2019, with over Rs 278 crore at the box-office. But was it an immediate yes for Shahid? In an interview with Pinkvilla, he had some revelations to make. He said, “My first answer was ‘no way I am doing this movie,” he shared and explained his thought process. “The way he ( Vijay ) personifies this character, I don’t know if I will be able to because people have already seen me in many different characters playing many different roles.” When Mira Rajput intervened She told Shahid, “She said ‘just shut up and do it. It’s the perfect film for you. People love to see you in love stories. People love to see you in messed up characters, this has both, just do it.” Shahid added, “Her thinking was so simple and I had overcomplicated it for myself. I guess it was good that I did Kabir Singh .” Back in 2020, inspired by this film, a 31-year-old man allegedly posed as an orthopaedic surgeon on dating websites and extorted money from gullible women, police said. The police arrested the accused Anand Kumar and his co-conspirator Priyam Yadav. During interrogation, Kumar told the police that the whole idea of identifying himself as a doctor came after he watched the movie Kabir Singh. He then created a profile in such a way that it attracts women, Kumar said during interrogation, police said.
